Since I got crowd approval to post a little more “aggressively buggy” photos ... I’ll take advantage of it! This is a photo of us cleaning some wax worms. Keep in mind that the spoon is full of pre-cleaned-worms (you can see some bedding in it still). But these critters are delicious and flavorful - some describe them as resembling pine-nuts in flavor. I’ve cooked them up in ceviches and curries. Bug friends - what are your best wax worm recipes?? 👩🏽🍳🐛🥣
On a completely different end of the spectrum from yesterday’s tarantula... I want to share more about the innovative founders at work to make Bugs less intimidating to us. Critter Bitters is an excellent example of what I like to call “Trojan horse marketing.” As the founders say: drinking cocktails might not save the world, but eating bugs might!! 🥃🦗💡(📸 @ashleycorbinteich)

I’m try to be careful to post bugs that are less intimidating, but I feel bad about not showing you all of the wonderful flavors out there! Like tarantulas.
