So, yours truly got to be a part of a winning innovation team at an innovation design summit in Raleigh today! 😄 what an amazing day full of crunching ideation, laughter and making friends!! Thanks @paradigmid for the challenge and confidence opportunity! Bonus: it was a day date #ftw because @micahbrownmedia and his team tied us for first! So amazing to put on our thinking caps together!
Thankful for these kids who were forgiving and gracious through disappointment over plans that mommy had made, and by her own effort, foiled. Thankful for my husband, who has been faithful to teach me about the (free) wonders of downtown Winston to craft a plan B. Thankful to God for His sufficient wisdom and guidance, these circumstances, grace and this sunset 🌇 #elliekaybrown#joelallenbrown#fayedyan
Momentous day on the Sweetmeadow. Yes, we have been finished with potty training for several months now, but I lingered getting rid of the diapers. Maybe it was the assumption that Joel would have had less success at nighttime, but he has proven himself to be a MASTER. But as the clothes are getting switched out, the room is getting in order, and I’m looking at photos of my kids and thinking, “wow, they’re tall...”, a pause sets in. This is the last diaper in our house (aside from our beloved guests ❤️) for the foreseeable future. This is the end of a 6 year timespan where these blessings have been our both our mortal enemy and best friend. •
Moms, can you take a second with me, and rather than thinking of “ALL the blowouts”, think how many of those blowouts were not blowouts because these things work so well!! They have exploded only a handful of times, and though those might be the most memorable. •
More on that...one of my favorite illustrations of how God sees us finds its origin in diapering. All analogies break down, but by far, this one has stuck with me. So Mom, think about this: half an hour ago, little Susie, your 10 month old, poops and you change her diaper. No big deal. Susie is happy, playing in her room You go about your day. You come back in to check on her. She’s ready for another change. Would you walk in the room and say, “SUSIE! Ugh, I can’t believe it. You’ve done it AGAI[N?! I have to change your diaper another time? How could you?” NO! You KNOW, as a human being, she WILL do it again. It’s in her nature. This is part of life for her, and now for you as a mother. •
The same is true with God. When we come to him with our sins, he doesn’t look at us and chide us! He KNOWS that we sin. He KNOWS we aren’t perfect. He KNOWS what you have done before we even know. And yet he still extends his grace. Over and over and over and over again. He is a loving father, ready to clean us up, hug us, and set us back down again, all the while knowing that we will come to him again. I cannot fully comprehend this, and praise God because I will spend the rest of my life looking to Him for..[cont’d in comments]

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY, ELLIE!🎀🎉🦋🌸🎂 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. - Psalm 127:4
Thanking God for our first arrow, and praying for this next year and her growth! Her name means “light” and anyone who has met her knows that she brings light into any room! 💖
“You can frame a moment, but you can’t frame a life.” - Arming Houman
Life has been so fast and so wonderful recently, and I have been choosing to soak in every little moment, phoneless. God has been so kind to allow me to do just that in my position as wife to my incredible husband and mother to my amazing children, and I am so thankful! My heart’s desire through social media and contact with my precious friends is to point us, in awe, to God for what He does in the every day lives of broken, needy humans. I need this perspective as much as you do! Looking back at what God has done is a practice that is vital to growing in grace! You all have been so kind to share how our little spot on the World Wide Web brings you encouragement, and you’re the reason I’ve come out of hiding! You’ve helped me to see how God has used us in others’ lives. I’d be a fool to say that He doesn’t use little moments. He uses millions of tiny moments to accomplish just one thing! His purposes stand, even better than the houses that we frame. ❤️
