#adhomukhavrksasana ( #handstand) Stay true to who you are. It may feel lonely at times, but the truth is, one must take each and every step on their own. Today's pose is the handstand, the peak pose on the short sequence over the past few days. All the strength building and body alignment work from before is put together in this final pose. Being stacked from the wrist, up to the elbows, shoulders, waist, hips, knees, and toes provides the most stability as all the weight is transferred down to the ground. There is no need to fight torques and moments due to imbalance. I personally like pressing up from the crow pose variation I had up yesterday. That method is tailored to a strength based yogi such as myself. Others find pressing up from standing easier. I have not yet mastered both so you be the judge. Something I am cautious about in this pose is how my back/spine lines up. If I relax my core, my back tends to arc into a backbend. This throws off my alignment. I find pointing the toes up towards the sky helps engage the leg and back muscles, which counteracts that. For those who like to challenge themselves, try dropping from the handstand back into the crow pose! The negatives really help build strength and body control!
