Have you felt frustrated with things out of your control? . Yesterday, I was in a session with my therapist and we actually got to talking about IG, my blog and platform, and how I manage the cycle of frustration/stress that comes with it all. . To be completely honest with you, there are times where I feel like I’m not “performing” to the standard that I think I should be. Like not getting enough exposure and in turn feeling exasperated as well as getting lost in the “comparison game.” But, I hate feeling like a victim to things I can’t control. That goes beyond just this platform. . We talked about the internal battle between my logic brain and my emotional brain too. I’m the type of person who when faced with a challenge will go through every logical solution I can think of (maybe some illogical) obsessively but am also plagued by my emotional response of fear and doubt. A lot of the time the colder, logical side of me pushes me through frustration because I just “get over it”. But sometimes I sort of hit a wall and negative emotion creeps in. . One solution we talked about was focusing on the things I can control and doing my best with those whether it’s with content or in my life in general. Basically continuing to put my best foot forward. That also means letting go of the things that I cannot control, which is WAYYYYY easier said than done. . We specifically also talked about self affirming and giving gratitude for the things I’m good at/can control. . To start: I’m proud of how far I’ve come in my content creation and I’m proud of my style and growing confidence to share it. I’m grateful for the people who take time to connect with and support me and I’m grateful to even have the platform to share. . I’d love to hear what you’re your own biggest fan for. I keep saying this (😅), but I’m putting the finishing touches on the layering blog this weekend. . One of the three key elements I’m talking about is creating STRUCTURE in your outfit. That can mean using a garment’s natural construction to your advantage (like this structured moto jacket) or creating your own. . What do I mean❓ . 1. Well, first when I say structure, I really mean creating interesting shapes, angle, and lines in your outfit so the eye can follow them in your outfit. Bomber and moto jackets have a lot of that already built in. You can also tailor some items to do that. I find that creating a waste and making the shoulders look broader he usually the most flattering. . 2. Outside of tailoring, creating your own is all about how you wear your item. Are you buttoning all the way or just in the middle ❓(Hint: the middle creates that waste) Are you tucking the tee or letting it hang ❓ or, are you wearing the shirt around your waist❓ Swipe through❗️ . Creating your own structure is where you get some personality to come through. As always, it may not be for everyone, but you can try something new and see how YOU like it. . Not a fan of vests❓how about we take the flannel somewhere more modern❓ . This [gifted] @rickyandmickyofficial flannel already had a unique color combo, which caught my eye. Taking a traditional idea and spinning it in a new way is the perfect bold style touch! . I got inspired to do the same with the rest of the outfit. Here’s what I did: . 1. I swapped in the bold bomber because it had the same colors in the embroidered details. Often times, you can let color drive your style choices and make combos you wouldn’t have expected! 2. I switched to light denim to add some contrast (my favorite) and take away the traditional dark denim element. 3. I went with the sleeker Jodhpur boot to slim down the bottom half of this outfit .
